For Our Parents:
With the integration of technology becoming more popular in daily instruction, my top priority is keeping your child safe while online. I also want to teach them the proper etiquette and rules for communication using technology which falls under "Digital Citizenship" (Ribble, 2017). Becoming a good Digital Citizen occurs when children have the knowledge and understanding of how to properly interact with others through a computer, Smartphone, or tablet. (Ribble, 2017). This will be taught on the page titled, "Digital Communication and Etiquette. Digital Safety will be covered on this page as well. Teaching students to understand how to properly use and access technology is titled "Digital Fluency" (Ribble, 2017). We will discuss this on the Digital Literacy page. The purpose of this website is to provide information for you and your child that you may refer as many times as needed. Each time a student picks up a device at home to communicate with others, these rules and guidelines can be reviewed. Repetition is the key to retention! Click on the title to read an article discussing Digital Citizenship, particularly the "Nine Elements: Nine Themes of Digital Citizenship" by, Mark Ribble (2017). It is quite informative and explains each theme clearly. On our website, we will focus on Digital Communication and Etiquette, which includes Digital Safety, and Digital Literacy. There is also a page titled Digital Access where you will find information about technology resources available to you. The link below takes you to the article in its entirety. Digital Citizenship |
